TILT – Things I Love Thursday, February 16th, 2012

♥ Watched this episode of The Office the other day. I love Oscar!

♥ Exploring Oklahoma City with my darling Rachael. I’ll be posting more about that next week!

♥ There is a commercial for Vick’s that has about 5 seconds worth Rainbows In The Dark by Tilly and the Wallon it, and every time it comes on, it makes me really happy. But watch this video for the song, it’s much better than 5 seconds of a Vick’s commercial.

♥ There is also a commercial for Rock & Republic that has quite a bit of Desperate Guys by the Faint on it, which also makes me happy. I have been watching a lot of TV this week.

♥ Apparently I am psychic. The other day I went to open the door to see if UPS had left any notes about having tried to deliver packages, and the UPS guy was standing there about to knock when I opened it. Nice.

♥ And if you were wondering what the package was, the tripod that I ordered for my DSLR arrived!

♥ I saw someone comment on one of my friends statuses who’s name was “Dylan Kelsey”. That’s probably only funny to me, but maybe it will help if you know that my boyfriend’s name is Dylan… and my name is Kelsi…

♥ Speaking of le boyfriend, I got my belated Valentine’s Skype date yesterday, which made me really, really happy. Counting down the months until he comes home and I can see him again in real life :)

♥ Annnnnd speaking of Valentine’s day, this blog post on Girl Gone Geek: 10 Animated Characters I Wouldn’t Mind Spending Valentine’s Day With (heck yes, I nominated Trent from Daria!)

Easy Pear and Swiss Bruschetta Recipe

I got this idea for this pear bruschetta from an appetizer that Rachael and I had at Urban Wineworks in Oklahoma City. It’s a sweeter twist on the classic. This recipe only takes 4 ingredients and a few minutes to prepare, and it’s super yummy! (It happens to be vegetarian!)

Ingredients:

French baguette
Pear
Honey
Swiss Cheese

Here’s what you do:

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
Slice your baguette about 1/2″ thick, or buy pre-sliced if you are lazy like me.
Put slices on a cookie sheet and bake for about 2 minutes or until slightly toasty.
Slice pear and cheese into thin pieces approximately as big as your baguette slices.

Spread honey on toasted baguette slices, and then add pear slice and top with cheese.
Broil on low for about 2 minutes or until cheese is melted.
Remove from oven and enjoy!

Bruschetta so quick to make that you can prepare just a few pieces for a snack or a whole bunch for a party. Play around with different amounts of the ingredients to see how you like it best. I personally don’t like a lot of honey because it gets really sweet really quickly. I think next time I would have thicker slices of pear and cheese though.

Outfit Of The Day: Little Pink Dress

If you stalk me on twitter or facebook, you might know that I have been on vacation the past week, visiting my darling Rachael in Oklahoma. It was my first time in the midwest and though this time last year they were in the midst of a blizzard, we were greeted with lovely spring-like weather in the 60′s! Despite a bit of wind, it was so nice to be outside without shivering in my coat and scarf and mittens. I took the opportunity to wear one of my favorite scores from ModCloth a pleated pink and mauve tweed dress that always makes me feel cute, and take some pictures for an outfit post. and hey look… you can see my new tattoo through my tights!

I really like doing personal style and outfit of the day posts. Now that I have a nicer camera I just need a tripod and maybe I can do these more often. What do you guys think?

TILT – Things I Love Thursday, Feb. 1st, 2012

♥ My roommate found this pre-How I Met Your Mother audio clip from a play that Neil Patrick Harris and Josh Radnor (Barney and Ted) were in together. Weird.

♥ On Monday I flew out to Oklahoma to visit my friend Rachael! I love being on vacation! Also this is my first time being in the midwest.

♥ I have been listening to Elliott Smith pretty much non-stop the past week or so, as I do every few months. He is my all-time favorite artist. Today, Rachael even complained that I got “that darn Elliott Smith song you have as your ringtone” (Waltz #2) stuck in her head.

♥ I saw that the Year Abroad Dress is back in stock on ModCloth. I have been eyeing this one for as long as I can remember. Maybe if I’m really, really good and don’t buy anything while I’m on vacation… (too late for that!)

♥ They are going to make a new season of Arrested Development! For realsies! I also hear they are going to make a movie after that. It saddens me that it was canceled after only two seasons.

♥ And they’re casting The Governor for the next season of The Walking Dead! I was wondering when they were going to get to this story arc. The show is good but it takes for-freaking-ever for them to get from one plot point to the next. Once the Governor comes in to play, It’s gonna get intense. It occurs to now me that I need to pick up book 14 or wherever I fell behind in reading the series as well.

♥ Rachael’s puppies and kitty! Her itty bitty doggie Marni is my favorite, (No surprise there; I don’t think that my love of miniature things is any secret) but here I am having a moment with her cat, who usually hates people.

♥ Pink hot chocolate. Need I say more?

♥ Cupcakes every day.

♥ Also we had an amazing lunch at Urban Wine Works in Oklahoma City. Best mac ‘n’ cheese… I mean Macaroni Gratin, excuse me… that I’ve ever eaten in my life. And really delicious white wine that we meant to buy a bottle of to bring home… but we got distracted by the allure of vintage shops.

♥ Speaking of vintage shops, Rachael and I each scored Melie Bianco handbags at crazy awesome prices at a vintage/thrift store here in Oklahoma. I can’t wait to use mine!

I had fun doing this photo challenge. It made me take pictures of things that I normally wouldn’t and reminded me to take pictures in general. Is it Spring Yet? Spring Dresses for 2012 – My Picks!

As I write this, it’s snowing outside right now. The news is saying this could be one of the worst snow storms that the Seattle area has had in the last 40 years. I’m sitting inside, wrapped in my pink fuzzy blanket and looking forward to warmer days and being able to wear flats and heels and cute little spring dresses. I’ve been online “window shopping” for hours… days. Here are a few of the spring dresses that I’m eyeing for the much-anticipated coming season.

Rally The Loops Dress from ModCloth. I love the length and color of this dress. The neckline is adorable, and the piping detail to match! I’m totally in love with the vintage cut.
In Love, Indeed Dress from ModCloth. The little heart print on this one is so cute!

Orange Circle Dress from Dorothy Perkins. I’m all about the fit & flare shape, it’s so flattering. I don’t own anything orange, so this seems like it would be fun!
Navy 2 in 1 Shift Dress from Miss Selfridge. This color blocking is so nice. I’ve been wanting something with a peter pan collar, and I think this would be a perfect one for someone with a larger chest like me; the keyhole opening and buttons will draw the eye down, making the bust seem higher so that the low-riding boobs/ski slope effect that normally happen with a high collar and large bust can be avoided.

Green Collar Skater Dress from Miss Selfridge. Here is another fit & flare shape with an interesting collar, and a color that is bold, but not blindingly bright.
Black Bow Neck Detail Dress from Dorothy Perkins. Cute bow collar and so comfy looking!

Fair and Lemon Square Dress from ModCloth. Such an adorable retro style. I love the collar and matching oversized buttons.
Bloom Moon Dress from ModCloth. What is spring without a floral print? The pleated front and waistband would make for a flattering fit, and I think the shape of the neckline adds some interest too.
